Hi, I'm Mel.

I bring almost 30 years of clinical experience, and most of my life as someone who actually lives with migraine.

My Migraine Coach exists to help you understand your own threshold, and learn how to raise it with clear, doable steps.

This Started Long Before I Had a Physio Degree

I got my first headaches at puberty, just like my mum, and just like my sister.

"It's genetic," I was told.

So I went on pain medication, and hormone control to manage it.

And it worked, in the sense that the symptoms were controlled. But nobody ever got near the actual cause.

It just sat there, managed but never resolved, for years.

It wasn't until I was training as a physiotherapist that something clicked.

I started to realise the neck could be involved, not just in other people's headaches, but in mine.

That one realisation sent me down a path I've now been on since 1997: figuring out what actually moves the needle on migraine, beyond "it's genetic, here's a tablet."

What almost 30 years of clinical experience taught me

I've worked with thousands of people living with migraine.

And I kept seeing the same pattern, over and over: people who misunderstood migraine.

They'd tracked every trigger. Read every article. Tried every supplement.

And they were still stuck.

It took me a long time to really understand why, because it wasn't a knowledge problem.

It was a threshold problem.

Migraine isn't caused by one trigger sitting out there waiting to catch you.

It's caused by how close your nervous system sits to its threshold, the point where stress, poor sleep, sensory overload, and the things you've quietly stopped doing out of fear all add up, until something tips you over.

You can't avoid your way to a higher threshold.

You have to actually build one.

That single shift, from avoidance to capacity-building, is the foundation of everything I teach now.

Why I Built This

For most of my career, this work lived inside my physiotherapy clinic, one person at a time, hands-on, local.

I'll always love that work.

But it meant the people who could access it were limited to whoever could walk through my clinic door.

I built Raise Your Threshold so that the same approach, regulation, not just avoidance; action, not just information, could reach people wherever they are, at their own pace, without needing to live near me or wait for an appointment.

It's everything I've learned distilled into a clear, doable 8-week path.

Not more to read.

Something to actually go through.

How I Think About Migraine

Migraine isn't random.

It's a threshold response to accumulated load, sleep, stress, sensory input, and more.

Avoidance has a ceiling.

At some point, avoiding more doesn't protect you, it sensitises you further.

Regulation is a skill.

Calming an overprotective nervous system is something you can practise and improve, not a fixed trait.

Action beats information.

You likely already know more than you need to. What's missing is usually a clear, doable next step, not another fact.

A Personal Note

If you're reading this because you've been told "it's just genetic" or "it's just stress, try to relax", I understand that more than most.

I was told the same thing, and it didn't actually help me get better.

What helped was understanding my own threshold, and learning how to actually raise it.

I'd love to help you do the same.
